What is MoniDose?

MoniDose is a dual-patient medication dispenser. One device serves two patients with separate schedules, alarms, and logs. It is being developed in Finland as a Class I medical device under EU MDR 2017/745.

Who is MoniDose for?

Residential care homes, home care providers, assisted living, welfare regions (hyvinvointialueet), pharmacies, and family caregivers.

How much time does MoniDose save nurses?

MoniDose is designed to free 2.5–3.5 hours per nurse per day with a 5-patient workload — roughly 55–77 hours per device per month.

How does MoniDose improve medication safety?

QR patient verification before every dose, locked anti-tamper storage, automatic missed-dose alerts, and remote device-status and event reporting. Every event is logged automatically.

What makes MoniDose different from other dispensers?

Dual-patient mode (a capability we're not aware of in other home dispensers), 2-way video with patients, a 4-role platform for nurses, patients, families, and pharmacies, and automated alert routing to the responsible nurse.

Is MoniDose a certified medical device?

MoniDose is in development as a Class I medical device under EU MDR 2017/745 using the self-declaration route per MDR Article 52(7). Registration with Fimea is planned. It is not yet registered.

How is medication loaded into MoniDose?

Pre-packaged dose pouches supplied on continuous rolls — 14-day rolls for short-term treatment or 28-day rolls for chronic medication. The device automatically dispenses the right pouch at the right time.

Does MoniDose integrate with healthcare information systems?

Planned — MoniDose is being developed to connect with care record systems and e-prescriptions (Kanta), pending national certification. Every dose is documented automatically, with no manual entry.
